For on-site CART services, a captioner will come to your event. Using a stenograph machine, a computer, and special software, the CART provider transcribes the spoken word instantly word-for-word in a classroom, meeting, or service, and it is immediately turned into text using CART software. Text can be displayed on your personal computer screen or on a projector screen for many to view.
For remote CART services, the captioner is offsite and the text appears on your personal computer or projector screen at your location by streaming text to an Internet URL for viewing. Using a stenograph machine, a computer, and special software, the CART provider listens to the speaker via teleconferencing or an audio source and creates the text that is viewable through an internet-capable viewing device.
